TWANG!
The sound of arrowfire sings out over the small village.
I am running. I feel the ground pounding against my bare feet. The scent of pine needles breaking beneath my slight weight is overwhelming.
CRACK!
Intense pain shoots through my thigh. I stagger, but only for a moment. The arrow went straight through, splintering all the bones in the way.
I cry silently.
I try to see my bird form. I jump. The crow that is me flies off, one foot curled and one jutted out in an odd formation. The blood is going to give me away. I drop to the ground again, careful of the leg. I grab a peice of leather from my pouch, after going human. I wrap it around my leg, staunching the blood. Then I go crow. I fly toward the deeper forest.
